The Waiting Game

Still waiting to hear back from Ms. Fantasia to get a look at the "Nutritious U" curriculum. I've been thinking how funny/frustrating/sad it is that our university has no trouble scrounging up hundreds of dollars for a nutritionist to come in and teach a series of healthy cooking classes to sports teams, but when it comes to working with our young neighbors, we're left to appeal to student groups for financial help.

On the bright side, I'm keeping in mind Maureen Timmons' generous offer that Northeastern will gladly "donate" their chefs to our project. Apparently there are around 30 chefs of campus!

Our project continues to take hold, as student groups, hotels and Northeastern are expressing more interest in supporting us. We're continuing to focus on the big picture: malnutrition.

I am appreciative that we are focusing our efforts where we can be most effective. We are focusing as locally as we can: at our school, in our neighborhoods, working with people who are not a city or a state or an ocean away, but right here facing health issues that we can partner with them to help eradicate. I'm thinking about our own spheres of influence and how we can continue to strive to best utilize the people and places we know as resources.
